I recently had the opportunity to quilt this beautiful quilt (quilted in "Swirls" by Circle Lord) made with Jaybird Quilt's ruler called Hex n More. I'd heard of their Side Kick ruler as our LQS, Thimble Town, has had a few strip classes using it, but I hadn't heard of the Hex n More. The piecing was really well done on this quilt, with the points all nice and matched up, and there were a LOT of points -- the quilt was king size!
Look at the cute little fussy-cut frog. Adorable!!
One of my favorite things about quilting for others is seeing different fabrics and patterns. And different techniques and learning about new rulers that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. In looking at the piecing, you would think there are lot of Y-seams or set-in seams in this quilt pattern, but I don't think there were any thanks to the ruler's technology. It's definitely an interesting ruler and technique, and I love how an old-fashioned hexagon design can look so modern, hip, and fun!
