Gobble, Gobble!!!

This cute little turkey has been sitting in the "waiting to be quilted" pile for two years now, but yesterday I had some spare time and finished it! (well, for the most part--it seems it still needs a beak! LOL)

I used two battings, a layer of Warm and Natural on the bottom followed by a layer of Hobbs 80/20 on top, as I wanted the bird feathers to have a little 3-D effect. And I quilted the background first as I've found that this helps, too, with the puffiness. As you can see, I didn't have enough extra backing fabric and that made quilting this piece a little harder -- my machine kept hitting the clamps and bringing me to a full stop. Not good!!! I tend to practice worse case scenarios on my own quilts but am not inclined to do this with someone else's quilt.

If you'd like to make a turkey like this one, this pattern came from a Missouri Star Quilt Company You Tube video. Jenny gives wonderful step-by-step instructions in her videos. I just love them! Here's a link for making this Thanksgiving Turkey!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Quilting!
