Metro Medallion QAL with Jenny

Jenny Pedigo over at Sew Kind of Wonderful is hosting another quilt-along with her wonderful Quick Curve Ruler. The timing is pretty near perfect for me so I'm going to play along this time. I've been wanting to make a modern quilt for a while now, just to have fun quilting it, and this is my chance.

I chose some leftover fabrics from two Kate Spain Layer Cakes I purchased a few of years ago on sale. I'm happy to have two of each of these prints left, just enough to use them in this quilt. The yellow and white fabrics are also from my stash -- luckily I had just enough yellow and didn't have to buy any more fabric.

Almost all of my blocks are cut out and ready to be sewn. I have four extra blocks left to cut as I'm going to make the quilt a little bigger, but the fabrics left over from my layer cake aren't as eye-catching as I would like, so I'm going to wait and see which ones look the best with these and cut them up when the time comes. Sorry for the bad lighting. It is summer here and all my blinds are closed as it is hot outside. I should have turned on my flash but forgot.

Here's the first four blocks. They were fun to sew, cut apart, and then re-sew back together, and I couldn't wait to see what they would end up looking like. I have a funny feeling sewing two a week is going to be a problem … I'm going to want to make more than two at a time! Would it be cheating if I made more?
