Beth's Quilt

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

Beth is my first customer and her quilt was the first quilt I ever quilted that wasn't my own. Recently, she brought me her beautiful Wild Flowers Embroidery Quilt to custom quilt. I knew this was an important quilt for her and she worked long and hard on it and she was excited to have it quilted. The colors she chose are amazing. Her only request was that the quilting be simple and the flowers be the focal point. We decided to use two battings, Quilter's Dream cotton and Quilter's Dream wool, to achieve a popping effect in the frame around each flower block. The SID alone on this quilt took about seven hours, plus all the stippling time, and there's 11 different thread color changes in the whole quilt.

This first picture is a little washed out. The rest of the pictures are a little too dark. The quilt in person is somewhere in between, with vibrant, beautiful batiks and a little Stonehenge here and there.

I love the back of the quilt. The fabric is from the Stonehenge fabric line.

I think the quilt turned out beautiful. Beth did too. Apparently, Phyllis, too, as she brought me hers to quilt "just like Beth's!" Thanks, Beth, for letting me quilt this one for you!
